A depiction of Quetzalcoatl

Mural by Diego Rivera in the National Palace, Mexico City, shows another representation of the creator deity Quetzalcoatl, here shown flying on a serpent. Symbolism associated with Quetzalcoatl has been borrowed from codices (pictorial manuscripts in the indigenous historical tradition).
