Diego Rivera's mural in the National
Palace, Mexico City, shows the artist's depiction
of men and women elaborating artistic works using
colored feathers as was done in pre-Columbian times.
A few feather "paintings" have survived
from the sixteenth century, and the tradition of using
feathers in artwork lives on in the present day but
to a much reduced extent.
