Fundación Victor Jara, Santiago de Chile

Founded by the musician's wife and children, Joan Turner de Jara, Manuela Bunster and Amanda Jara Turner, this foundation honors the memory of Victor Jara, killed in the wake of the 1973 coup against Salvador Allende. The Victor Jara Foundation is a non-profit, cultural organization legally established on October 4, 1994. A decade later a retired army colonel was indicted Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004 in the killing of Victor Jara in the opening days of the dictatorship of Gen. Augusto Pinochet.
