Cocoyoc was a
large sugar ingenio founded in what is now the state
of Morelos (a semi-tropical region to the south of the
Valley of Mexico) during the colonial period. It is
now a luxury resort hotel. The picture shows ruined
mill buildings fronted by a modern swimming pool, which
is fed in part by the mill’s colonial-era aqueduct.
Photo was taken in the fall of 1989 with
a Minolta SRT 101 camera using Kodachrome slide film.
