This is the interior
courtyard of a restored colonial-era building which
now serves as the municipal museum of the city. Querétaro
was founded in the colonial era in a rich agricultural
valley to the north of Mexico City. Its agricultural
and stock-raising estates supplied that city, as well
as mining centers to the north such as Guanajuato and
Zacatecas. Querétaro developed some manufacturing
during the colonial era as well.
